The danger lies in the lack of perception.  At a certain point you don’t physically register anything other than “cold”. There’s a difference though. At -8 one does a little shivery dance and puts on the gloves. 

At -34 there’s a peculiar urgency. I’ve heard that sufferers of heart disease sometimes experience an unexplained sense of impending doom for days prior to a heart attack. At -34 your body is aware that life is measured in minutes even if your brain doesn’t know the temperature.
