Endangered species portrait:  The Macaw!

(In this case the blue-and-yellow macaw,
Ara ararauna, which is actually the least threatened variety).  They live in Central and South America.  Of the 19 species, several are extinct or presumed so. There’s also a fascinating subgroup of “hypothetical” macaws for which there are historical descriptions but no surviving physical evidence.

plumptastic:   Draw a bowerbird. They are fascinating.

Ah yes!  The bowerbird family includes 20 different species. They live in Papua New Guinea and Australia.  During courtship the male bird puts together a fancy nest, which includes a landscape of meticulously sorted colorful items to attract a female.  Then he shows her his dance moves.

Sunday thoughts:-I was walking along the trail and this remarkable little finch stopped me in my tracks . “Peep pip pip”, it said. Seemed like an intelligent bird. At least it had something to convey.

– My wife needs baby food jars to store paint in for her class. Being a remorseless eating machine, it falls upon me to consume rather bland apple sauce. The airplane keeps zooming out of nowhere.

-I’m silently judging you.

I had just woken up and my eyes weren’t even focused. but i saw something flying around my room. i grabbed my camera as soon as i realized what was going on and snapped this photo.

I’m not in the habit of “promoting” blogs, but really, if you want to see an original vision in contemporary photography, do yourself a favor and check out James’s flickr.
