-We have erected a political lawn sign for a city council candidate, for the first time ever. Researching platforms I was surprised at how many really decent people from our ward are running.

-A correction regarding my outfit post from the other day.  C. says my shoulders are broader and my legs are more slender than I portrayed.

-Do ever want to just sit around and watch Pink Floyd live at Pompeii?  I’m in an Echoes mood.

25. Are you an introvert or extrovert? A leader, follower, or lone wolf?

(I can be very gregarious and social but solitude is always calling me back to the nourishing warmth of its bosom.)  (I can also be an effective leader and a decent team player but, you know, I’m pretty wolfy.)

“Don’t stand your guitar in front of a roaring campfire.”

(scrolls a little)

“Don’t prop it next to the cheerful glow of a crackling wood stove, either. “

24. Tell us about your favorite outfit (or post a photo). Describe your style.

-You
know the uniform.  I started wearing dark t-shirts when I worked in the
steel bearings factory because the dust from machining would rust and
stain my white shirts orange.  Unremarkable jeans. Boxer briefs.
Converse (Jack Purcell’s when I can get them, Chucks when I can’t.)
Sturdy boots when I want to stomp on things. Pocket knife and
overstuffed wallet. Fuzzy work socks. Cargo shorts in summer because if I
can’t be a dad I might as well look like one

23. What’s your favorite game to play? Do you play cards, board games, or video games?

I took the high school chess coach by surprise because he happened to be my math teacher. Nine out of ten competitive chess players are very good at math. I certainly wasn’t and he found that compelling. Rather than approaching deep strategic thought via calculation I did it by some kind of intuitive process.

Lunch hours were spent playing Euchre, (yew-ker) a card game that most of you won’t recognize.

I’m pretty good at Pictionary.

I don’t play video games because I fear what it would do to me.   I like Scrabble, and Uno, and will play board games if the opportunity arises.

19. Get nostalgic: what do you miss that reminds you of a happy time in your past?

This photo surfaced the other day when cleaning out a junk drawer.

C. sometimes says, “There are no happy memories!”, by which she means any trip into nostalgia is sure end up with sadness.  Being a melancholic sort I kind of agree, but before the sadness sets in there’s always a rosy glow.  This is the view from my old apartment overlooking the park.  The 6th floor was a peaceful place to be, and my responsibilities at that time seemed perfectly matched to my abilities. A year after this photo was taken things would be very different.

18.
What are your wishes for your body after you pass? Do you want a
funeral, wake, visitation? Burial, cremation, or something else? Does
your family know your wishes? Do you have a will?

(I don’t think there’ll be much of a funeral. As for disposal, whatever’s the most cost-effective option. Like, if they’re having a deal on cremations that week, do that.)
